It’s our first holidays with Amaya are we are so blessed to have her in our lives.  This week is filled with family time and spending quality time with each other.  The elders are finding the time to share details on our childhoods and how naughty we were.  We constantly hear “When Dev was a baby….” or “Nisha used to do [insert bad baby act] when she was just a few months old”.  It’s a great time for reflection and an even better time to think about the future.

In the morning, Nisha brings Amaya to our bed and it’s the best feeling to be able to roll over and see your precious child waking up with you.  She stretches her tiny little body and looks all around the room. Then she hears my voice and turns her head and does her best attempt at speaking.  Then one of two things happen; she either cuts a mean fart and smirks or she starts to wail.  I’ll take the fart and smile any day.  Sometimes Amaya farts so loud that she surprises herself with the act. She has this surprised look on her face like “Did I just do that?” and I can’t help but to start laughing out loud.

We had some yummy ice cream cake last week for Amaya’s one-month birthday.  We were able to celebrate with both sets of grandparents and Amaya looked so cute that evening.  She was even able to iChat with her cousing in Portland and her family in Oklahoma.  We all got a chance to sing happy birthday to her via the cool technology.

Last night we celebrated again.  This time for Nisha.  As a joke, we got her a [red velvet] cake and wrote a message that read “Dear Nisha – Welcome Back!  Love, AE Jeans.”  The joke is that Nisha is so excited she can fit in her regular American Eagle jeans again and not wear the preggo pants!

I’m also excited to share that FOUR more friends living in SoCal had babies in the last 10 days.  It’s a pretty exciting time of the year for many of us and I just wanted to wish happy holidays to our family and yours.
