It’s been a few days since I’ve posted about Amaya and after a few emails and texts requesting more, here is the latest.
The rest of the Thanksgiving weekend was very chill. Just quality time with just the three of us. Amaya got to show off her USC gear for the rivalry game on Saturday night. Her and mommy matched outfits and looked ready for the part.
There has been no real schedule with Amaya. Sometimes she wants to eat and sometimes she’s passed out as if she just ran a marathon. Makes it a little unpredictable as parents but that’s part of the fun they say! Who are these “people” that say such things?
One of the tougher items is that Amaya will fall asleep and then within 15-20 minutes she’ll be back up with wide open eyes ready to play. She doesn’t want to stay asleep. The only good thing is that she’s not doing this so much at night but more during the day. It allows Nisha to get some decent rest at night in the tune of 4-5 hours at a time. Daytime is a whole other ballgame.
I had a chance to catch up with some fellow recent fathers. It’s always nice to share experiences with fathers in the same boat as you. We’ve been sharing ideas with each other and just being able to relate and vent has been awesome. There’s enough kids to start a garage rock band now!
A couple of cool iPhone apps that we found are Total Baby, Knocking Vid and Baby Soothe. Total Baby is a tool to track diaper changes, sleeping times and feedings. It’s been really resourceful. Knocking Vid is a cool app that allows to iPhones to share live video streams using the cameras on the phone. It’s a litte buggy but really nifty to see Amaya from work during the day. Baby Soothe is a compilation of sounds like white noise elements to provide a soothing comfort for Amaya. Sounds include vacuum, static, rain and waves.
This morning Nisha yelled for my help in the nursery. It sounded serious so I ran over quickly to find Nisha with a worried look but laughing at the same time. Nisha was in the middle of changing Amaya’s diaper when she decided she needed to poop. The mere trajectory of this mess was the most surprising since it went all over the changing table and Nisha. It was classic and when I attempted to take a picture of the event, Nisha didn’t find it amusing so I quickly jumped in to help. Then when I was cleaning up Amaya and the mess, she decided she wanted to add another layer of fun by peeing. Lucky she can’t aim so I was spared and she followed it all up with a quick little smirk. That smirk or smile gets you everytime. Every sinlge time. It makes everything ok afterall….and indeed it was.
Instead of just putting up specific pictures on the posts, I will also create photo gallleries on the site of recent Amaya pics. That page is listed as Amaya on the navigation bar.

Hang in there mom and dad, it will get better. Gavin now sleeps all night long, of course not in the crib..hahahah but hey no complaints.
Before long you both will be master changers, feeds, and have no need for Iphone apps, or electronic schedules as your mind simply knows when what needs to be done.
I will say however that I was not prepared for our first family sickness over the thanksgiving holiday…. but we have all pulled through.
There is so much to come… the first words, the crawls, tumbles, and falls… but the best of all is when you little one reaches out for you to be hugged and kissed.
Were on number 2 now… so you better get ready to catch up in a year or two… hee hee.
